Most Hawaiian bowls and platters were undecorated. However, a few carved dishes have been preserved showing human figures holding a platter or bowl. This platter shows an effigy of King Kahahana and his wife Kekuapoi of o'ahu, supporting the meat platter of the conqueror, Kahekili.
